Our Story
Beads ‘N Things was first established in the Village of Pittsford in 1968. Over the years, the store transitioned from a bead shop in the 1960’s and 1970’s, to a bead & craft shop selling thousands of rolls of ribbons, grapevine wreathes, cross-stitch materials, etc., during the 1980’s.
We purchased the shop in November 1984 and after a decade of selling crafts and beads, we saw that the demand for beads and beading supplies was on the rise. In 1995, we converted the store back to its origins of the 60’s and 70’s... back to a true BEAD shop! We donated most of the leftover craft supplies to local charities and schools and gave the store a new look to make room for all the new beads. In June 2008, we reorganized our shop again to expand our bead offerings! September 2008 brought yet another expansion in the online arena where we have launched our online store featuring finished jewelry created right in our shop!
Our bead shop stocks an inspiring selection of quality beads from across the country and around the world. From size 5 to the tiny size 15 seed beads including Japanese Delicas; fashion Czech and vintage German beads; semi-precious stones; and stunning Swarovski crystals and rhinestones. We also carry a lovely assortment of freshwater pearls, sterling silver and gold beads along with an abundant selection of quality sterling and gold findings.
In addition to our bead assortment, we carry a wide array of instructional books from the beginner to advanced beading levels. Do you have treasures that need repair? Feel free to bring them in and we'll supply you with the tools to fix them yourself, or you can opt to have them repaired by our experienced and quality focused restringing service. Not only do we provide professional, on-the-spot advice, we also specialize in private beading lessons offered throughout the year.
